Having Pets

Oh boy do we have pets!! So along with adult children, 2 kids at home , 7 & 9 , we have 2 cats, 3 dogs, and a hedgehog!!!

As you know we added a puppy to our family in August, the same week my mom passed away. He will be a service by age 2. Right now he is a giant 35 pound, 4 month old puppy!!! Who had to have his last round of puppy shots today.

I know you are thinking this is normal puppy life. Right?? Well let me tell you a story!! Because this is how my days tend to go…

Jack Frost, great name don’t you think?, he is the perfect well mannered puppy at the Vet Clinic!! He is so good and everyone tells me what a great pup he is, he doesn’t even flinch on the tall table. He is learning commands super fast and he acts all well behaved in public.

So, normally I take Jack for rides in my pickup, today we took the car!! That was a huge mistake!! He wouldn’t settle in, on the 25 mile ride to the clinic. I kept thinking it was odd for him because he is such a great rider.

We get to our appointment destination and of course I walk him about the grass before going in. He does nothing except try to pull me to the front door. You see he knows this place already! We go in and weigh my baby moose, then we go to our room. He does everything he is supposed to and he gets his treats. We go out the door and I was thinking, better walk him around again. We walked around for about 5 minutes before getting back in the car, again nothing!!

Five blocks away from the Vet Clinic and I smell something horrifyingly bad! I look in the mirror and sure as I breathe, that pup is pooping in the back of my car!!! It was awful!

I am not alone in the car! My friend, bless her soul, doesn’t say a word! Not a single comment ! Me, I was about to throw up !! So I turned down the very next road and pulled over !! I got out and opened the back lift gate and pulled the dog blanket out and shook it out in the ditch!! Thank goodness we live in a very rural area!!!

This is a weird thing to tell you about I know !! But I said I was gonna share all the chaos that is my life, and this was only about 45 minutes of my crazy day!! Pets or great!! The kids learn so much from having to be responsible for something that is living.

Me, I have learned a lot as well. Like to laugh at the messes and just clean it up. That is what we do in life!! We make messes, and mistakes. We learn, and we move forward! And when we know how blessed we truly are, we learn to find joy and laughter.
