We took a short trip! As a family, two children under 10, in the car, across the state! 1 bathroom stop!! I call that a win!
We enjoyed our time visiting friends and family, my brother made us supper the first night! The kids got to see his home, and tell him stories! They really like to share things with their Uncle.
I was beyond grateful to connect with my friends from my childhood as well as being a part of a wedding! But the best part was sharing my past with my children!

I can not even begin to tell you how many hours I spent swimming off this bridge!!! Sitting at the base of the pillar, talking smack with my friends!! 🤣🤣 ah life sure was simple back then! But as life changes so do the things in our lives! This bridge was a one way on top and one way on the bottom bridge to another state, another escape, and now you can no longer drive on it. They didn’t tear it down when the new driving bridge was built , it is now a walking bridge!! And it’s still a beautiful site.

Our son has been learning about Lewis and Clark. So he was super excited to go see Gavins Point Dam. So many people fishing that day, as the weather was perfect for it. We had fun sharing stories with him. I have fished off the wall with my step dad when I was a teenager!

The kids had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the River and the history of Yankton South Dakota! This is where I grew up! This is home! This is where I feel like I can truly be me without judgmental expectation, this is where I am whole!

Seriously!! A wedding! And Fireworks!! Talk about great coincidences! The kids planned an amazing Halloween wedding at the Old Mill down by the River and the City planned the fireworks to use the explosives that were being stored, as all other displays had been canceled over the summer due to COVID!! My kids did not even give two shits that they didn’t go trick or treating!! They had so much fun exploring and experiencing new things, that it wasn’t missed.

Along with all the already planned events, my husband planned a birthday celebration with my friends back home!!! I was completely shocked that they all managed to pull this off and surprise me!! I turned 48 last week and I couldn’t be happier! I have the most amazing, caring , selfless people in my life!! I have been truly blessed in this life to know I am loved and supported!!
We need to live this life! No matter what you have been through in your past, you need to embrace the joy of the present! Take the short trip, remember where you came from, and never let something that happened to you control who you become! Be Badass everyday!! And LIVE in the present knowing you are loved and supported!
Be blessed and be happy
Love and Light
