This weather sure has been very erratic to say the least. We have not this many warm days in a very long time , yet the folks down south are freezing and without power.
We have been fortunate enough to be able to stay busy and warm. But this is normal for us, we have winter activities already planned before winter sets in. We can get snowed in and we are prepared. But not everyone is used to such things. And my heart goes out to the families down South. I can only imagine what they are going through.
16 years ago we went several days without electricity due to a spring snow storm that broke many power line poles. At that time it was just my oldest daughter and me. So it wasn’t so terrible! We learned together, we had a fireplace for heat and a gas stove to cook. It made me realize that going all electric would always be a bad choice.
To stay busy indoors, I have been learning to make candles and bath bombs!! It has been fun to experiment and try to improve these skills. Also we have been playing a lot of family games and teaching the kids to play card games as well.
I also have decided that my younger children need more life skills. We can not leave these lessons to be taught through school or life. I want them to grow up confident that they can go out in this world safely and productively. We are starting a new routine that will also allow this mom more quiet time to write. I am still learning how to do all these things, so it’s a fun process.
We are eating healthy, moving more , learning tae chi , also we plan to dive into self defense !! My kids know we live in a very scary time, now is the time to teach them that they do not have to be a victim. I am sure as we progress in our new lessons, we will be able to share more. Life is for living NOT fearing!!!
